Symptoms or Error
When trying to install a Virtual Delivery Agent (VDA) for Windows Desktop OS or Windows Server OS, the following message is displayed:
“Cannot be installed on this operating system. Clicking this button will open Citrix Knowledge Base article CTX139030.”
Solution
To resolve this issue download a VDA version that is compatible with Windows versions earlier than those listed in the table in theProblem Causesection of this article.
Downloading the VDA
安装或升级VDA on an earlier Windows version, complete the following steps:
- Log on to your account on the Citrix website and navigate to the appropriate version's download page (you can download the full .iso or only the VDA .exe).
Install the VDA as described in the VDA installation documentation.
Problem Cause
Installation of current VDAs is supported only on a streamlined set of Windows OS (see table below). The following table lists the operating systems that are no longer supported, plus the latest supported product version on those operating systems.

Note:Virtual Delivery Agent (VDA) for Desktop OS 1909 will ship without x86 support. Customers wishing to install or upgrade Virtual Delivery Agent (VDA) on x86 platform must use 1906.2 layout/ISO.

Can a customer utilize CR components with LTSR Virtual Delivery Agents (VDA)?
Yes. Beginning with the XenApp and XenDesktop 7.15 LTSR, customers can integrate 7.15 LTSR VDAs into their CR sites (like 7.16). Customers are required to maintain their LTSR VDA with the latest Cumulative Updates. However, the standard product milestones and timelines apply to each LTSR or CR component as defined in the XenApp and XenDesktopProduct Lifecyclepages. For example, a CR site will only have 18 months until End of Life (EoL); whereas, the LTSR VDA will have 5 years until EoL
Can a customer utilize Citrix Cloud Services with LTSR Virtual Delivery Agents (VDA)?
Yes. Beginning with the XenApp and XenDesktop 7.15 LTSR, customers utilizing the Citrix Cloud XenApp & XenDesktop Service can leverage the LTSR VDA. Customers are required to maintain their LTSR VDA with the latest Cumulative Updates. Standard End of Life (EoL) product milestones and timelines apply as documented in the Long Term Service Release section of the XenApp and XenDesktopProduct Matrix.
