Applicable Products

  • XenDesktop

Symptoms or Error

The users report a lync.exe/mediaengine.exe crash or hang during an audio or video call.

Solution

The administrator must exclude the following processes from AV or endpoint protection (especially CPU spike protection):
  • Lync.exe
  • MediaEngineService.exe
  • MediaEngine.Net.Service.exe
  • CtxAudioService.exe
  • Receiver.exe
Workspace:
  • SelfService.exe
  • SelfServicePlugin.exe
  • CtxWebBrowser.exe
  • AuthManSvr.exe
  • wfica32.exe

These processes can experience CPU spikes due to audio encoding, decoding, application share, etc.

Please note the list or name of processes might change during releases without notice and the aboveexclusions are set at customers risk.

Similarly other process should also be excluded that are real-time related:

Teams.exe (if Teams is not optimized with HDX, which offloads all multimedia processing to the client device)
Zoom.exe (if the optimized Zoom VDI plugins are not installed, which offloads all multimedia processing to the client device)
